Why Have an Intimate Wedding
Your wedding will be beautiful whether it’s big or small. However, intimate weddings hold a very special place in my heart. Here are a few reasons why I love them, and why I think you will love them too!
Only your top of the top friends and family will be in attendance
Weddings are extremely personal. Sometimes it’s nice to only have those who are special to you around to witness your nuptials. Especially when those individuals have a direct connection to you and your spouse-to-be. Plus, sharing your special day with those who are near and dear make for a more emotional experience. And who doesn't want to see emotion at a wedding?
You don’t have to stick to the format of a typical wedding
Wear a white dress or don’t. Swap the wedding cake for pie or cut out the wedding “cake” all together. Get married in a church or in the downtown parkette, at the exact spot where your love story began. You don’t have to start on a completely blank canvas, but you don’t have to go by the book either. But the best part, you can shorten and simplify the day-of timeline and only do what matters most to the both of you.
Your wedding will be memorable
Not only will you enjoy remembering what went down, but your guest will have much to talk about. From the personalized vows delivered by your children, or the dance-off you had with grandpa, to the bespoke wedding favors and luxury late night stations. Who doesn’t remember lobster rolls or sushi at a wedding?
It can take the pressure off
Intimate events don’t have to always look and feel like a wedding. With a simple plan that incorporates your personality and style, it can feel like a dinner out with family and friends or a house party with all your favorite people. And the good thing is, if something goes wrong, you can just go with it. It’s an easy way to take the pressure off and focus on the meaning of the day instead of the stress of what a wedding is expected to look and feel like.
It allows you to be present
A lot of the time, couples wake up the next day and their wedding is a blur. Was Sasha there? Did I speak to Aunt Carmen? With a smaller event, you are more likely to invest in personal interactions with your guest and remember the conversations you had. Also, it gives your guests a sense of exclusivity and prevents the frustration of having to wait their turn to have a moment with you.
With all this being said, an intimate wedding isn’t for everyone and wanting a traditional wedding is totally fine. However, having an intimate affair opens up a world of unique possibilities, allowing for a more relaxed time so you can truly enjoy yourselves.
